Teaching and learning

Outstanding teaching is at the core of life at Yavneh College. Lessons are exciting and stimulating and pupils are challenged to think in creative ways. This is why academic results are exceptional, placing the school at the top of national league tables on an annual basis.

Lessons at Yavneh College are of the highest quality, they are interactive and well differentiated in order to meet the needs of all of our pupils from the very able to those who need that little extra SEND support. 96% of lessons are judged as outstanding or good and it is these high standards that ensure that our pupils achieve the best they possible can and probably why in 2016 Yavneh College was the top performing of all similar schools across the whole of Hertfordshire.

  • In 2020 87% of GCSE pupils gained grades of 7-9

This is down to our dedicated team of teachers and to our hardworking students.

    Year 7 Pupil

I have been a Jewish Studies teacher here since the day the school opened and I feel extremely privileged to work in such a special environment and feel honoured to work with such a wonderful team of teachers. The pupils are a wonderful group of young people and the pride they have for their school and their Jewish identity makes teaching them particularly worthwhile. I feel truly blessed to be part of the Yavneh family.

Jewish Studies Teacher

Never before has it been such a pleasure to go work every day.

I can still remember the day I came for interview, I don’t think I really knew what to expect as I am not a member of the Jewish community, but a community is exactly what Yavneh is. Everyone who comes to Yavneh is made to feel valued and welcome, regardless of their background and since that day 7 years ago, I have not looked back.   Yavneh is a great place to work, not just as a teacher, non-teaching staff are recognised at Yavneh as being the back bone of the school and I am very proud to be part of the team.
