YEAR 7 RULES
Following a recent referral to the Office of the School’s Adjudicator, Yavneh College has made some minor changes to its admission rules and Supplemental Information Form (SIF) for entry into Year 7 in September 2016. The amended rules and SIF can be found in the link on the right hand side of the page.
FORMS REQUIRED BY YAVNEH COLLEGE
COMMON APPLICATION FORM
All applicants must complete the Common Application Form (CAF) for the Local Authority in which they live i.e. if you live in Barnet, Harrow, etc you complete the CAF for that Local Authority, even though Yavneh College is a Hertfordshire school.
The CAF asks you to rank the schools of your choice in preference order. We strongly advise that if you wish to send your child to Yavneh College, you should rank Yavneh College as your first choice on the CAF.
CERTIFICATE OF RELIGIOUS PRACTICE
The admissions process for entry to Year 7 in September 2016 requires all applicants seeking a faith based priority, including siblings and pupils attending feeder primary schools, to also complete a Yavneh College Certificate of Religious Practice (CRP) and a SIF, in addition to the CAF. Applicants also have to refer to the document describing the Jewish Ethos of Yavneh College. All of these documents are available through the links to the right of this page.
In view of the Supreme Court ruling in respect of Jewish schools, Yavneh College is no longer able to give priority according to Jewish status. Instead, the School will give priority to those who meet a religious practice test based on guidelines from the Chief Rabbi.
Those applicants wishing to be considered as priority applicants for available places need to obtain a certificate establishing religious practice, based on the child’s synagogue attendance, Jewish education and/or family communal activity. Please see the link below entitled ‘Yavneh College Certificate of Religious Practice (CRP).’
Only synagogue attendance from 1 May 2015 – 24 October 2015 will be relevant. Applicants are strongly advised to contact a synagogue as soon as possible to establish what they need to do to be able to demonstrate attendance and get the CRP signed.
If sections 2 and 3 of the CRP need to be completed, applicants must make the necessary arrangements to ensure verification of the CRP by the individuals concerned. It should be noted that the CRP does not confirm that the child is Jewish in accordance with Jewish law.
To download the CRP for Year 7 Entry 2016 please downloads at the bottom of this page.
Please note it is now possible for the SIF to be submitted electronically to Yavneh College. If you wish to complete and submit the SIF via our on-line facility, please click on the link below and follow the instructions. The deadline for submission of an electronic SIF is 31 October 2015. Please note the following:
· Please ensure you complete every field requested. Once completed and submitted, you will be emailed a copy of the SIF for your records.
· The CRP cannot be submitted electronically. Please complete and send in the paper version to Yavneh College by the deadline of 31 October 2015.
· If you submit an electronic SIF, please do not send a paper copy as well.
· Year 7 entry September 2016 Application Form (SIF) (Electronic Version)
The SIF (electronic version or paper version) and CRP must be completed and returned to Yavneh College by 31 October 2015. All applicants will first be ranked according to whether or not they have achieved 3 points in accordance with the Yavneh College CRP. In the event of over subscription, all applicants will then be ranked according to our published admissions criteria.
Three dedicated school bus routes with heavily subsided fares have been introduced, serving Yavneh College pupils living in SW Herts and the north London suburbs. Further information is available from the School Buses section on our website.
Parents of children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs or Educational Health Care Plan are advised to apply through their Local Authority’s Special Educational Needs team. This is to ensure that the correct consultation procedure between parents, school, and SEN team at the Local Authority can take place. In accordance with the law, Yavneh College will admit pupils with Statements of Special Educational Needs that name the school.
We also ask that a SIF and CRP are completed for SEN applications.
For further details regarding special needs provision at Yavneh College can be found in the SEND section of our website.
